A major wall sculpture by Herbert Seiler, dated 1978, created on a black textured wooden panel. The work combines a structure of metal rods forming an interplay of vertical lines and circles with a spectacular organic relief in gold-patinated bronze (or a copper alloy predominantly composed of bronze and brass), creating a remarkable sense of depth.

This wall sculpture perfectly illustrates Seiler’s artistic explorations in the late 1970s, a period during which he developed his famous abstract metal compositions mounted on panels. His artistic language blends geometric forms and freely modeled volumes, striking a balance between construction and spontaneity.

The work is signed “Seiler” on a brass plaque and dated 78.

About the artist:
Herbert Seiler (1928–2008), an Austrian sculptor of Czech origin, was trained in Austria before settling in Ethiopia, where he completed numerous public commissions and taught sculpture. His work, exhibited internationally, oscillates between figuration and abstraction, with a predilection for bronze sculptures and metal wall compositions.
