Two-light Candlestick In Polychrome And Gilded Porcelain Attributed To Jacob Petit (1796–1868)

Artist: Jacob Petit
A two-light candlestick in polychrome and gilded porcelain attributed to Jacob Petit (1796–1868), depicting a young peasant girl in traditional country dress holding a basket of flowers. The arms, decorated with foliage and rocaille scrolls, are richly accented with gilding, while the undulating base is adorned with a delicate, hand-painted scattering of flowers.

A model characteristic of the whimsical and decorative style developed by Jacob Petit around the mid-19th century.

This piece bears the authentic J.P. underglaze blue manufactory mark on its underside, confirming its production by the renowned Parisian workshop.
