Authenticity guaranteed.
This is a beautiful post-Impressionist work with Fauvist tendencies by Laurent Mattio, who depicts here a rocky coastline in the Var region—perhaps near Toulon or Sanary, his two favorite spots.
He naturally employs his characteristic brushwork—extremely rich in texture, applied with a palette knife—and, of course, a most subtle palette where browns, blues, ochres, and oranges mingle with touches of yellows and grays; in short, a small masterpiece by the painter.
My clients who know me are aware of my fondness for this painter, even though he is quite different from the Crozant painters, in whom I specialize. But his work particularly moves me, as does the rarity of his pieces.
For once, I won’t be listing his entire biography here, but I do recommend visiting an extremely comprehensive website where you’ll find a complete overview of this Provençal artist. Here is the link: https://laurentmattio.fr/biographie/biographie.php
