Edouard Cazaux (1889-1974) Lamp Base Circa 1935/40 With Antelope Design. Mayodon, Netherlands
Artist: Edouard Cazaux (1889-1974)
Superb ceramic lamp stand by Edouard Cazaux circa 1935/1945 with antelope decoration, signed on the reverse in black.
Height of ceramic alone 14cm or 20cm with mount.
In very good condition.
I do not offer a lampshade as the buyer can adapt it to his taste or interior.
I obviously point out that this piece is an original lamp base created by the artist and has not been drilled later, this is easily seen as the hole is impeccable and above all glazed on the inside.
Genuine period piece guaranteed.
This lamp base is a very typical Edouard Cazaux creation, made around 1935/1945, the artist indeed created numerous stylized antelope designs, geometric circle motifs are also a signature Cazaux design, here slightly recessed in shades of red.
I no longer need to introduce Edouard Cazaux, French ceramist of the Art Deco / 1950 period, his competitors at the time were Mayodon, Lenoble, Simmen, Besnard, Fouquet, Larrieu, Ciboure, BACS etc....
I suggest you check out his comprehensive biography on Wikipedia...
