Extremely rare pewter egg cup with a flared bowl, a stem featuring a central knot, and a sculpted base with a scalloped edge.
Hallmark: crowned FF / R / (7)3. (For 1773). The “R” is the initial of ROUEN
Hallmark applied twice by Charles BOISSEL, who became a master craftsman around 1754: crowned hammer / C.B.S.
Height: 9.8 cm.

The hallmark for the year 1774 is known to us and therefore allows us to date this egg cup precisely.
The third example encountered in nearly 50 years…
Very good condition; however, some oxidation under the base is noted.
