Large Statue Of A Baoulé Chieftain On A Bicycle In Ivory Coast (colon?)

Large Baoulé statue depicting an important woman—a queen or a dignitary. The bicycle is a symbol of power, much like the horse; when it was first introduced to Africa by colonists, the local people were deeply impressed by these “magical” machines!  Numerous necklaces made of glass, glass paste, terracotta... This may be a depiction of a colonist.
Antique statue from the early 20th century, 75 cm tall and 80 cm with the base, in good overall condition, with a beautiful patina from use and age.

The glare in the photos is due to the powerful lighting used so you can see the objects as clearly as possible—they are actually darker in reality.
From a very beautiful collection assembled by expatriates who lived in Africa in the 1950s and 1960s and later passed down through inheritance, and while this isn’t always the case, these cultured individuals took the time to carefully select their pieces while there; they are all superb and antique, and I have several for sale.
