A Louis XV-style Ladies' Secretary Desk, With 19th-century Marquetry

An elegant Louis XV-style ladies’ writing desk with a drop-down lid serving as a weekly planner, crafted in the late 19th century. It is veneered in curly rosewood and topped with a white marble slab.

This piece stands out for its lavish trim of chiseled and gilded bronze, which adorns the entire front: pull handles, lock plates, corner finials, feet, ingot holders, clasps, moldings, and beltwork ornamentation, all of which lend the piece a particularly refined character.

The flap, trimmed with red leather accented with gold and small metal studs, reveals a functional interior consisting of two small drawers and storage compartments. The lower section consists of six curved drawers offering ample storage capacity.

The sides, also veneered with curly rosewood, reflect meticulous craftsmanship and high-quality cabinetmaking. This ladies’ writing desk is as elegant as it is practical, ideal for both classic and contemporary interiors.
