Rectangular Box In 925 Silver, Mexico (d.f.), With Pre-columbian-inspired Decoration

A charming little rectangular box in 925 silver, made in Mexico, in the Distrito Federal (D.F.), in the mid-20th century, probably circa 1950–1970. It is hallmarked on the inside with ‘Hecho en Mexico’, ‘0925’, ‘D.F.’ and the initials ‘M.G.’, corresponding to the workshop or silversmith.
The lid is adorned with a finely engraved design depicting a stylised composition inspired by pre-Columbian iconography.
The reverse, deliberately understated, is left plain, highlighting the engraved decoration on the lid. The box is hinged at the side and opens to reveal an interior made entirely of silver.
Given its small size, it may have been intended to hold small pills, tablets, a piece of jewellery or any other small, precious pocket item.
A fine example of 20th-century Mexican silversmithing, combining the quality of the silver with a pre-Columbian-inspired design.

Condition: in good condition, with slight signs of wear and fine superficial scratches consistent with its age.
