Object Of Curiosity - Funeral – Souvenir Medallion With Epitaph Fixed Under Glass
Funerary medallion whose subject fixed under glass is an epitaph. Early 20th century. The rear and the strapping are made of sheet iron.
This type of mortuary souvenir was found in niches dug within the tomb steles. Sometimes sealed by a porthole and forming a funerary diorama, most often they were hung as is at the mercy of the ravages of time and the weather.
Condition: with gaps in the paint and the rear sheet metal certainly due to its age, its usefulness and its place of exhibition.
