Pair Of Gelatin Silver Bromide Negative Plates Medical Curiosity Object - Dwarfism Child

Set of two glass gelatin silver bromide negative plates, probably made between the late XIXᵉ century and the 1930s.
These photographs depict a naked girl with dwarfism, standing in a medical environment.
The postures and framing indicate a desire for precise clinical documentation, for scientific, diagnostic or educational purposes.
The style of photography confirms a medical or hospital context typical of university or hospital institutions of the time.
Pediatric cases of this kind, treated in such a methodical way, bear witness to both:
the clinical anthropometric practices of the time,
and the use of photography as a tool for medical and anatomical cataloguing.

(The dithering visible in the photos is the result of the lighting used to take the photos and put the negative on sale).
