Rare Dunhill Tallboy Petrol Lighter Manufactured In England Under Cartier Licence
Collectors particularly appreciate these early Cartier Licence examples, which are encountered far less frequently than later Dunhill production.
This example is especially desirable as it retains its original black lacquer finish, an uncommon alternative to the standard engine-turned silver plated models. It also features an engraved white metal monogram plaque, almost certainly added for its original owner.
The base is marked:
DUNHILL
MADE IN ENGLAND
CARTIER LICENCE
The mechanism bears the markings "PAT." and "PREFOR", identifying the early patented system fitted to these first-generation lighters.
Measurements:
Height: 6.5 cm
Width: 1.8 cm
Depth: 1.2 cm
Weight: 44 g
Excellent overall condition with only minor losses to the lacquer along the edges.
The lighter has not been used for many years. When it was last in regular use it was in working order and produced a good strong flame.
