Kota Gabon Obamba Reliquary Keeper
Kota reliquary guardian statue, Obamba style with plates and slats, a magnificent composition of yellow and red copper, with beautiful patina on the copper and wood, more pronounced on the few metal parts. Southeastern Gabon, Franceville region. Estimated to date from the late 19th to early 20th century; purchased at auction in the 1960s by a wealthy collector and friend of the auctioneer, who, according to the collector, helped him secure some very good deals.
