Dan Mask From Ivory Coast

Beautiful Dan mask from the Mande people of Ivory Coast, 23 cm by 18 cm, with its custom-made base.
Note the two beautiful bells that would ring with each step the dancer took; Dan masks simply depict a human face in a realistic manner, which is very rare among African masks.
An antique mask that has been used in dance.
From a very fine collection assembled by expatriates who lived in Africa in the 1950s and 1960s and later passed down through inheritance. It’s not always the case, but these cultured individuals took the time to carefully select their pieces on-site; they are all superb, and I have several for sale.

Feel free to contact me to ask for more information or to negotiate—it’s part of my job, and I’m happy to do it!
