Large Cubist Statue Bambara Nyeleni Mali
Superb Bambara or Bamana statue from Mali, representing their feminine ideal, the large chest is the symbol of fertility and has no sexual connotation in Africa as it does in the West! It comes from the Belgian Serge Sherr collection then in my personal collection. I am very fond of this kind of tribal statue with a modernized design, here we are in minimalism and cubism, a statue that I really like which must date from the 50s/60s, 83 cm, some minimal wear!
