A rare pair of traditional hand-carved wooden Speculoos molds depicting an elegantly dressed gentleman and lady in profile. Their costumes are inspired by late 18th-century fashion, with the gentleman wearing a long coat, breeches, stockings and a decorated hat, while the lady is shown in a fitted bodice, elaborate bonnet and richly draped skirt.
Suce molds were used by bakers to produce large festive Speculoos or gingerbread biscuits and were carved by skilled craftsmen in Belgium or the Netherlands. Their generous size and refined execution suggest they were intended for professional bakery use rather than for domestic kitchens.

The carving displays remarkable craftsmanship, with finely detailed costumes, expressive stylized faces and a rich, warm patina acquired through age and use.
