Emmanuel Marcel-Laurent (1892-1948) was a French painter and watercolourist, a member of the Concarneau group and appointed official painter of the Navy in 1942. Deeply attached to the Breton coast, he travelled throughout Finistère, painting its ports, its towns — including Brest, Concarneau and Quimper — and scenes of everyday Breton life. His works are held at the Musée de la Marine in Paris and Brest, and appear regularly at public auction.
