Oil painting on canvas depicting a still life with a floral arrangement and fruit, dating to the 1950s.
The work is set on a dark, molded wooden surface, upon which sits a white ceramic vase decorated with pod-like motifs and plant-inspired patterns in shades of cobalt blue. Inside the vase is a bouquet composed of open and budding roses, alternating in shades of pure white and deep pink. The arrangement of the flowers follows a soft pyramidal pattern, enriched by dark foliage that stands out against the neutral, uniformly desaturated background.
At the base of the vase, on the left side of the composition, there is a finely detailed arrangement of fruit. A dense cluster of white grapes stands out; the grapes feature carefully rendered highlights to convey a sense of transparency and roundness, flanked by several purplish plums placed in the foreground. A leafy vine extends toward the lower right edge, balancing the volumetric mass of the fruit.
The painting style is characterized by a fluid application of paint, yet attentive to the textural rendering of the petals and the fruit’s skin. The work is set within a contemporary carved and gilded wooden frame, defined by grooved profiles and relief decorations featuring acanthus leaf motifs at the corners and in the centers.
