Description:
An elegant still life painted in oil on canvas, depicting a bouquet of flowers—mainly carnations in shades of white, pink, and red—arranged in a slender glass vase. The composition features a well‑balanced vertical structure: the stems, gathered in a transparent vase with green‑grey reflections, create a main axis around which the softly toned blossoms unfold.
In the foreground, on a dark surface, the artist introduces a refined narrative detail: a small open box, decorated and lined inside with light blue fabric, from which a golden necklace and a pocket watch emerge. Next to them, a few cut flowers — including pansies with vivid colors — add further chromatic balance and symbolic nuance.
The dark, compact background enhances the brightness of the flowers, which stand out with an almost atmospheric delicacy thanks to the soft, layered brushwork. The piece is presented in its original antique gilded frame, characterized by floral motifs.
