Refined set of six solid walnut chairs, dating from the Louis XVI period (late 18th century), a typical example of the Venetian neoclassical furniture tradition.
The structure, with sober and regular lines, features front legs in truncated pyramid shape carved with stylized floral motifs (rosettes) on the connecting blocks, while the rear legs rise straight and plain. The backrest is framed by a linear moulding and enriched with an elegant central element carved in the shape of a stylized lyre, a hallmark of Venetian production of the period, evoking the neoclassical ornamental vocabulary and the purity of forms inspired by antiquity.
The seats are in woven Vienna straw, characteristic of high-quality furnishings that combined lightness with refinement. The use of walnut, warm and compact, gives chromatic harmony and structural solidity.
This ensemble retains its stylistic coherence and stands as a clear example of the sober and rational elegance that distinguished Venetian production in the second half of the 18th century, in dialogue with the aesthetic canons spread throughout Europe under the reign of Louis XVI.
