Boulle Marquetry Mantel Clock, Louis XIV Period
A very beautiful “religieuse”-style mantel clock, featuring Boulle marquetry decorated with lambrequins, acanthus leaves, volutes, figures in profile, a musician dancing under a canopy, birds, squirrels, four-leaf motifs, etc., and richly ornamented with gilded bronze details such as a winged Victory, satyr heads, fire pots, interlaced friezes and four-leaf motifs, cascading flowers and foliage, resting on four lion’s paws, etc. (minor imperfections and missing pieces).
