A beautiful pair of beechwood bergère chairs with a white lacquer finish overlaid with gray, featuring a straight, square backrest; the armrests are in the form of freestanding columns, resting on turned front legs with a tapered section, and saber-shaped rear legs.
Stamped “Jacob D., rue Meslée,” a mark used by the famous cabinetmaker from 1803 to 1814.
Branded with “CP” under a crown within a circle, corresponding to the furniture of the Palace of Compiègne during the First Empire.
Two stenciled inventory marks, “C 7608” and “C 11560,” and two other marks beginning with a “C” that are partially erased.
Empire period.
Good condition.
Worn almond-green velvet upholstery.
