A Louis XIV style cartel clock from the 19th century, signed on the dial "Berthoud à Paris," in brown tortoiseshell, with very rich gilt and chased bronze ornamentation attributed to Alfred-Emmanuel Beurdeley (1847-1919). Beurdeley participated in the 1878 Universal Exhibition and is compared to the most famous artists of the time, such as Dasson, Grohé, Sauvrezy, and Fourdinois. His last major exhibition was the 1889 Universal and International Exhibition. This cartel clock is a replica of a model by Charles Cressant. It features a white enamel dial with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes, original bronze hands, a striking mechanism, and a serviced movement.
