"the Cold Wing, Ecrins Massif" By Francic Cariffa
Artist: Francis Cariffa
Francis CARIFFA was born in Chambéry in 1890. He died in Challes-les-Eaux in 1975. Seriously wounded during World War I, he found a sense of balance through painting after the armistice. He exhibited in Paris at the Galerie Georges Petit and at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, as well as in New York, Montreal, and London. He painted mainly Savoyard landscapes, particularly the mountains he loved so much. Using a palette knife, he skillfully and swiftly juxtaposed vigorous brushstrokes. His works are vibrant, generous, and moving. Francis Cariffa is featured in the “Bénézit” as well as in the book “Les Peintres de la Savoie” by Anne Buttin and Sylvain Jacqueline. With its carved wooden frame, the painting measures 63.5 cm x 78.5 cm. Packaging, shipping, and insurance costs via tracked Colissimo are €60 for France and €70 for the European Union.
