Alberto Zardo was born in Padua in 1896 and left the Veneto region for Tuscany in his youth.He trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, where he studied under Raffaello Sorbi (1844–1931), a genre painter, and took sculpture classes with Augusto Rivalta.He specialized in various genres, ranging from portraits to landscapes and figures.
In the early 20th century, Alberto Zardo began his career in illustration, and in 1901, he won first prize in the Alinari competition for his illustration Il passaggio dello stinge from the Divine Comedy.
