John Patrick Erskine was born in Youghal, Ireland, in 1944. He was raised in Sunderland. He studied at Sunderland College of Art and the Royal College of Art. He taught at the Eastborne School of Art (Sussex, England) and the Winchester School of Art. Erskine traveled throughout Europe and worked regularly in Texel, in the Wadden Islands.
Numerous exhibitions in: Brussels, Eppstein (Germany), Lachanio, Rhodes (Greece), Laguna Beach (California), New York, San Francisco, Aix-en-Provence and Norway.
