Joseph François, born in 1851 in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, died in 1940 in Brussels. Belgian painter of landscapes and seascapes. He exhibited in 1887 at the L'Essor circle. He was a member of the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris from 1913, the year he received a silver medal. Between 1905 and 1934, he exhibited regularly at the Liège Fine Arts Circle. Concerned with accuracy, he particularly favored painting the Sonian Forest, the Campine heathlands, and the area around Spa.
