Eugène Devéria, born in Paris on April 22, 1805 and died in Pau on February 3, 1865, was a French Romantic painter. Devéria entered the Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he studied under Girodet-Trioson and Guillaume Guillon Lethière.
Eugène Devéria's first submissions to the Salon date from 1824, where they were little noticed.
In 1827, however, his monumental painting The Birth of Henry IV was a triumph.
Eugène Devéria was at that time one of the greatest hopes of the nascent Romanticism.
For the bicentenary of his birth, in In 2005, the Pau museums dedicated various events to him.
Works in numerous museums.
