Large CORPORATE PINT GLASS for bakers, made of pewter in a truncated cone shape with a domed lid topped by a seated lion holding an oval, molded, and engraved coat of arms. It features a corded handle, a large lenticular thumb rest, and rests on three ball-shaped feet identical to the thumb rest.
Hallmark of MULTZ, who received his master’s mark around 1600, cited by Erwin HINTZE, T 5, Ref. 372, in “Die Deutschen Zinngiesser und ihre Marken”: b / S.M / 20 (b for Bamberg and 20 for 1620)
Height: 45.5 cm.
BAMBERG (Nuremberg region), first half of the 17th century.

Piece in very good condition with a lustrous medium patina; a poorly executed repair to one of the feet, though invisible when displayed, is noted.
The coat of arms dated 1727 was engraved at a later date.
These large mugs were often engraved with the first and last names of the guild’s master jurors.
