A very beautiful pewter platter, weighing 3.6 kg, signed Patris Ernest (1909-1982) and decorated with laughing bearded men; an unusual and uncommon object that will delight collectors and individuals alike. History: An expressionist painter, ceramist, and sculptor of busts, portraits, heads, figures, and monuments. At 18, he already held a diploma in drawing and modeling, but beyond his professional activities, it was artistic expression that deeply inspired him. A self-taught artist, he discovered the entire technique of working with clay on his own and created his first works in the 1930s. Later, he studied bronze casting at the Gilly vocational school and anatomy at the Ghent Academy. From 1937 onwards, he devoted himself solely to sculpture, as well as a tin and bronze foundry using the lost-wax casting method (1955).
