Around 1860, he moved to Paris, where he joined the studio of Charles Gleyre, the renowned teacher of many Impressionist painters. He later became a member of the Société des Aquafortistes, through which he published his first etchings, such as *Rue du Caire* (1862), followed by a series titled *Vues d’Égypte* (1865).
He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1865 to 1890.
