"Oil On Panel, Orientalist Style, Reclining Woman, 19th Century"
Oil on cardboard and panel, orientalist style made at the end of the 19th century. This artistic movement was popular in Europe and often represented idealized scenes of the Orient; woman lying in a lascivious pose wearing light clothing and golden jewelry, typical of representations of the "odalisque", the lion skin under the woman reinforces the theatrical and exotic character of the scene, richly decorated decor with oriental motifs in the background, cushions and colored lighting. We note in the pictorial style a thick application of paint, bright colors and an oil technique. This technique is similar to Jean Léon Géromé, Georges Antoine Rochegrosse, Giulio Rosati or Rudoft Ernst. The painting is signed but the signature is not identifiable.
