Orientalist Painting, Oil On Canvas, 20th-century "colomina" Oriental Market

One can make out figures wearing djellabas and veils, pottery, jars, and copper trays in the foreground, beneath a canvas tent or awning, creating a souk atmosphere.

This is a theme much loved by Orientalist painters. Oil on canvas applied with a palette knife and brush, thick strokes, free and very lively, twork in masses of color rather than details, warm palette: ochres, earth tones, reds, beiges

This is clearly a Post-Impressionist/Modernist style, typical of the second half of the 20th century.

The signature in the lower right corner appears to read very clearly:“ Colomina”(cursive script, well integrated into the painting, original signature, not added later) Colomina is a fairly common Spanish/Catalan name.   Several 20th-century artists bear this name (regional painters, sometimes travelers).
