Spanish Transitional Officer's Sword
An interesting transitional sword with a rapier-style blade, forged by the Basque blacksmith Pedro Lezama (Lecama), who was active in Toledo and Seville during the first half of the 17th century. As the king’s armorer, he was responsible for marking his blades “Spadaro della rey” (court armorer). The gilded copper hilt features a shape typical of the mid-18th century and is adorned with a copper fillet. The pommel and guard are secured by a screw. A fine example of a transitional officer’s sword used by high-ranking Spanish officers.
Condition: Good, with some minor signs of wear on the gilding. The blade is slightly curved. Otherwise, in excellent condition.
