Henri Cauchois, 1850–1911, a French painter of flowers, fruits, genre scenes, landscapes, seascapes, and still lifes. He was a student of Cabanel and Duboc at the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He began exhibiting at the Paris Salon in 1874, where he won numerous awards. Toward the end of his life, he devoted himself to decorative painting, creating, among other works, floral panels for a school in Paris’s 7th arrondissement. He often rendered his compositions with broad, impasto brushstrokes. Works are held in the museums of Louviers, Perpignan, and Rouen. The artist is listed in the Bénézit (with a sample signature) and the Schurr (Dictionary of the Minor Masters), and is rated by Artprice, Artnet, Akoun, etc...
