Neoclassical Marble Medallion: Grand Tour Profile, 18th Century

Neoclassical medallion in white marble, in relief, depicting a male profile, late 18th century.

These small medallions were often brought back from Roman workshops during the Grand Tour.

On the reverse is an inscription that reads: “Souvenir of a lunch. A nice gift. Ph. C.... 5/1/1916.”
In very good condition; there are no restorations or breaks, only natural veining in the marble.
