An 18th-century Paris Porcelain Serving Dish, Attributed To The Locré Manufactory
Artist: Manufacture De Locré, Attribué à
Large porcelain serving dish with a polychrome design of floral bouquets, accented with fine gold-gilded scrollwork and palmettes. Numerous small flying insects adorn the rim. Paris porcelain; the platter is unsigned. It likely comes from the Manufacture de Locré, which produced floral motifs of this type featuring a consistent use of insects—often tiny—sometimes along the rim, as on our platter.
The Manufacture de Locré was founded by Jean-Baptiste Locré in 1771, and he ran it until 1810.
Our dish is in very good condition with no flaws or damage. The polychrome decoration is fresh, with some wear on the gold.
Length: 38.5 cm
Width: 28.5 cm
