It features, under glass, a figure of Saint Joseph and Child, flanked by two saintly figures in relief.
Naive craftsmanship, likely carved with a knife, with fairly vivid original polychromy.
Exterior painted reddish-brown, parchment hinges, and a small brass hook.
Probably Brazil, 19th century or early 20th century.
A beautiful example is on display at the Museu do Oratorio in Bahia; (last photo).
In good condition upon discovery: (small traces of glue), some cleaningwork needed.
