Two Berber terracotta bowls,
one round and one spindle-shaped.
Sejnane, Tunisia.
Kabylie, Sejnane,
decorated with tribal motifs,
pre-1950, good condition.
The clay is generally extracted from riverbeds.
It is cut into lumps, crushed, purified, and soaked before being kneaded and shaped.
Once fired, the pottery is decorated with two-tone geometric patterns.
These patterns are reminiscent of traditional tattoos and Berber weavings.
The last photos feature pottery from Morocco and Algeria.
