Ottoman ewer in tinned copper from the end of the 19th century, very beginning of the 20th century. The bulb-shaped body with fifteen large ribs, similar to the dome of a mosque. Engraved stopper, in a beautiful dominique shape with fretel and wide ringed neck. Beautiful patina, the wear of the tin plating allowing the nuances of red copper to filter through, for a graceful and elegant object. This ewer or jug was and is mainly used for ablutions, washing the face and hands, during religious ceremonies. Ewers are emblematic and are among the most beautiful objects of ancient oriental art.
