1900s Polychrome Bronze Vase With A Carnation Design By Guenardeau, Era Siot Marionnet Daum

A lovely Art Nouveau vase decorated with carnations, crafted in polychrome bronze by the sculptor J. Guenardeau.

Truly representative of the Art Nouveau period in both theme and form, this lovely vase is unique in its polychrome finish, with black carnations that stand out particularly well against the raw gilded bronze. The engraving is of very high quality; Guenardeau worked exclusively with the foundries Susse frères or Les établissements Colin in Paris. There is no doubt that one of these two foundries produced this lovely piece. The shape is original, with a base resting on four small feet, an "onion-shaped" bulb at the base, and a neck featuring openwork carnation buds flanked by four large leaves that form the body of the vase.

Beautiful size of 19 cm, heavy, in perfect condition, signed on the base, circa 1890–1900.
