A superb and rare, very large ceramic bowl with medallions and scrollwork by Emile Gallé.
Here is an impressive antique ceramic piece, finely decorated with color motifs reminiscent of the Japanese-style pieces that were very much in vogue at the time.
The ovoid bowl rests on four feet and is accentuated by two handles and two central medallion-shaped panels—one featuring a bird on a branch and the other a landscape with a castle. Numerous scrolls in relief, flowers, and even insects complete this rich decoration.
Impressive size: 55 cm long, 32. ( cm wide, and 17 cm high.
Signed in red on the underside of the base: “E. Gallé Nancy.”
Very good condition, with minor imperfections that do not affect its appearance.
