Art Nouveau Bronze Vase With Two Patinas, "the Woman With Flowers," By C. Korschann And Louchet, Foundry
Artist: Charles Korschann ( 1872-1943), Fondeur Charles Louchet
A lovely bronze vase, “The Woman with Flowers,” by Charles Korschann (1872–1943).
This beautiful bronze piece with two patinas embodies the very spirit of Art Nouveau. A woman emerges on the left side, with a hairstyle typical of the 1900s and wearing nothing but flowers (daisies, I think...). Her bust rests on a gracefully curved planter adorned with friezes of gilded bronze flowers. There are no straight lines—only curves have a place in this artistic period.
Note the finesse of the chiseling and the elegance of the forms.
The piece is signed “Ch. Korschann Paris” on the base and bears the circular “Louchet fondeur” stamp underneath.
Very good condition, 14.5 cm high, 15 cm long, circa 1900.
A superb Art Nouveau piece, featuring two distinguished signatures, very elegant.
