Pierre Almes (1880-1944) Animated Fountain In A Basque Country Square - Framed Mouth
A beautiful oil painting on panel depicting a lively Basque Country square, with a central stone fountain surmounted by a bronze sculpture in a circular basin bordered by bollards. To the left, a café terrace under a yellow awning welcomes seated strollers; a figure bustles about near the fountain on the right. Tall trees with luminous foliage filter a beautiful golden light onto the surrounding facades.
Pierre Almes (1880-1944), born in Béziers, was a French painter, watercolorist, poster artist, and ceramicist, a student of Fernand Cormon and a member of the Salon des Artistes Français (silver medal).
