Pierre Martin Jacot + Woolmark, Rare Wool Carpet Design 1970's
Artist: Pierre Martin Jacot
Rare pure wool rug with an emblematic 1970s design.
Carton and design by Pierre Martin Jacot, sculptor and painter born in 1941 in Switzerland, who died in 1993. Pure virgin wool, published by Louis de Porteere around 1972 in several colors.
In the early 1970s, the Woolmark Foundation took up the tradition of the great manufacturers who had the cartoons for their carpets and tapestries made by great painters. A competition was held to select 5 artists whose cartons were guaranteed by the Woolmark label, and were at the same time works of art.
4 years ago, I sold the same rug, which still bore its original labels (photo attached); this one has lost them, but it is indeed of the same quality, with a few small stains, even though it is very clean.
Dimensions = 220 x 160 cm
Weight = 7.6 kg, careful shipping extra.
