Chinese Brush Holder, Or "bitong", Bamboo, 19th Century.
Antique Chinese brush pot, late 19th century, in bamboo carved with scholars or wise men chatting in a pagoda under the pines. Good used condition, with non-through cracks, just superficial.
Some holes from wood-boring insects, which no longer produce dust...; apparently, they are no longer active, but the very thin bottom is pierced (see photos).
However, it remains a beautiful decorative object, full of symbolism, which takes us back to the art of calligraphy and prints... Height = 18.3 cm; diameter = 11.2 cm; weight = 333 grams
