Polish Ceremonial Mace Called Buzdygan

This Polish ceremonial mace with wings is called Buzdygan. It should not be confused with a Bulawa, which is another type of ceremonial mace without fins.
This type of mace is a symbol of military authority. Those worn by nobles of high lineage and generals can be sometimes richly decorated.
Our model is unique in that it has two hand shand slots on the stock. The normal hand slot at the end of the end of the stock  is covered in leather, and is topped by a small circular flange separating it from the second hand slot. This type of grip enabled the object to be carried vertically by a herald who, during ceremonies, walked before of the noble officer.
Clearly, the weight of the head of this mace makes it unsuitable for war use. Total weight of the weapon = 2.2kgs
MACE  HEAD: It is made entirely of metal. Eight iron (or cast-iron) fins are decorated with scroll motifs, and are topped by a pointed bulb reminiscent of church domes.
STOCK OF THE MACE : This is made of wood. Below the metal head, there's a widening, twisted section, then a flange, a smooth part, another flange and finally the main grip which is covered in studded leather. This leather may be a later replacement, although it is hardened. Finally, the stocks ends by small dome and a ring.
This type of mace is uncommon in the West, and finding one is always a pleasant surprise.
