Chad Sword, Circa 1920

This Sword-Glaive is typical of Chad. It was collected in the 1925s. It is the long version of the forearm daggers called "Loï Sonnou" Due to its length, obviously this weapon is no longer worn on the forearm.
BLADE: It is a beautiful forged blade, very sharp, which has the shape of an elongated leaf. 4 thin grooves on each side meet 14 cm from the tip. The blade is in excellent condition.
Length of the blade = 47.8 cm, width near the handle 4.4 cm, thickness near the handle, 3.8 mm
HANDLE: it has the typical shape of the handles of this region. It has a nice stitched leather work, with in the middle what seems to be the skin of a reptile. It ends with the classic almond-shaped iron part, which is intended to remove the large thorns in the legs of the kettle or camels.
SCABBARD It is made of stitched leather and reptile skin. Near the entrance of the sheath, attachments for a twisted leather cord.
Beautiful authentic ethnic object, at a very reasonable price.
