An elegant center table or coffee table from the early 19th century, featuring a fine oval top in polychrome scagliola and an elegant red-lacquered wooden frame with delicate gilded decorations.
The top features a black background decorated with a border ofplant clusters, leaves, and ornamental motifs executed in golden tones, in keeping with the neoclassical style prevalent from the late 18th century through the early decades of the 19th century.
A refined medallion stands out in the center. The frame rests on four curved legs, lacquered in awarm cinnabar red and decorated with elegant gilded motifs.
The ensemble creates apleasant chromatic contrast between the black of the top, the red of the base, and thegilded decorations.
