This rosewood box is inlaid with whiteinlaid with a white marquetry of foliage, arabesques, fleuronsarabesques, fleurons, scrolls and heads of birds of prey.heads of birds of prey. The interior is divided into numerouscompartments, each of which holds a small tray for the chips.These are made of mother-of-pearl and come in a variety of shapes. Thelower part of the box has a protruding molding that encircles it.and rests on four small turned feet. The brass lockbears the signature of the prestigious Tahan firm in Paris.Paris, and has retained its key. There are a few small chips on theon the left-hand fillets.
