Pair Of Gilded And Patinated Bronze Candlesticks With Loves, Carrara Marble, 19th C.
A pair of patinated bronze and gilt bronze candlesticks depicting winged lovers each holding a bobèche and a torch.
The figures rest on quadrangular white marble bases embellished with a gallery and small ormolu ball feet. The fine modeling of the putti, combined with the contrast between the brown patina and the mercury gilding, illustrates the neoclassical taste of the Empire - Restoration period of the early 19th century.
